Between Sumptuousness And Delicacy Of A Fabric

Velvet is a weaving dating from the 12th century. It was created in the Kashmir region, India. It was called "swan's down" and its name says a lot about its texture and touch...

It will be developed in Persia and then discovered by the Italians in the 14th century.

At that time, it was made mainly of silk and adored by royal and aristocratic families. It was also often associated with the color red for its very luxurious side.

It became more democratic in the 19th century, thanks in particular to the workers who wore wide-leg corduroy trousers for their rigidity and warmth.

The most popular is cotton velvet but it can also be made of silk, wool, linen...

The weaving process is particular since it requires more or less long, straight or lying threads.

Did you know that it's a fabric that has sense ? Depending on the orientation of its hair, its color will appear in different shades more or less clear.

In the 60s/70s, it became very emblematic. Today, it is truly trendy, for our greatest pleasure !
