Origin

We discovered in the United States a collection of vintage bags from the American army, which the soldiers personalized with drawings, their names, their numbers or even the mascots of their regiments.

We had fun buying back one of these more 60 years old bags from the U.S. Navy that belonged to a sailor who had traveled the oceans. This bag was absolutely magnificent, made in different fabrics, patched, worn, burned in the sun but also hand painted with the mascots of his regiment as well as the different destinations he had traveled. It was then that, based on the patronage of our iconic Marius waistcoat, we disassembled this bag to adapt it to the cut and create a unique model that we presented at trade fairs as an artist's proof.

It was a success, everyone wanted to buy it from us. We then decided to produce it and offer it in three different versions.

QualitY

Our main challenge was to find from our fabric suppliers cotton that could withstand very strong washes to regain the appearance of a vest that would have traveled the world and the oceans without disintegrating.

To achieve a perfect vintage look, we had to appeal to our intuition with skilful mixes of materials, colors and washes.

Style

We had to look for strong enough designs to personalize this vest and develop the manufacturing process that would give it a vintage look.

|

After a year of research and prototypes, we have created 3 models of vests. This is the U.S. Navy. The USMC (United States Marine Corps) mascot, a bulldog named Chesty, was adopted following the First World War. The Germans nicknamed the marines the "devil's dogs" for their ferocity during this war, proud of this nickname, the marines have since used the bulldog, a symbol of courage and virulence, as their mascot.

Discover our two other equally original and iconic models:

Flying Tigers

The Flying Tigers is the nickname given to a squadron of American pilots in 1938 that will mark history during the Second World War. The nickname of the squadron comes originally from the painting done by one of the pilots, on the nose of his plane and which represented a gaping shark's mouth which will later take the form of a tiger giving its name to the squadron.

Flying Devil

Activated at the end of 1942 as a heavy bomb squadron, the 'barking devil' became the unofficial mascot of this 549th squadron of the American Air Force whose mission was the strategic bombing of Nazi Germany during the last years of the Second World War.

It's up to you to pair it with a classic outfit for an offbeat look or wear it with red selvedge Japanese canvas jeans for a hipster look.

This true collector's item limited to 50 copies will also be ideal to complete a 'hobo' look.
