Denim fabric was created in Nîmes in 1800 (hence its name).
Selvedge is a particular and specific confection of this denim fabric. Its cotton threads are sewn very tightly and the ends are reinforced along the lengths with a white and red edging (hence its name "red-selvedge"). This technique gives it real solidity and resistance.
This manufacturing process originated in the United States but was abandoned after the Second World War, due to strong demand from the textile industry. Traditional looms were abandoned and made way for faster, automated machines.
Today there are not many manufacturers of this selvedge denim fabric. Most of them are in Japan because they mainly bought the old looms from the Americans.
These raw denim jeans have 5 pockets. The thickness of its canvas is 14oZ. Its straight cut is timeless and gives it real comfort. We added details specific to our house such as the unique prints on the inside of the pockets or the embroidery of our Ocean Surplus logo on the corner of the 5th pocket.
Also, it is a real Japanese denim fabric, 100% cotton. The jeans were assembled in Portugal. Its selvedge edging is red.
The lower leg measures 17 cm
This fabric is unique, it lives and shapes itself with and according to you. The denim adapts to your own body shape to become like a second skin. It is a fabric that will mold itself to your body over time.
Also, its indigo color experiences different shades over the years. It fades as it is worn and washed to reveal authentic tones.
It is a true denim fabric that lives and evolves over time and depending on how often you wear and wash it.
To preserve this precious raw and authentic indigo blue, we recommend wearing it for as long as possible without washing it. During the first wash, take it to the dry cleaners to fix its color. Then wash inside out and cold.
