New Year’s Eve and its Thousand Traditions

- Categories : All

Every year, billions of us celebrate the start of the new year. Each country, each region has its little traditions. We have chosen to tell you some of them...

The Freshness of the Ocean in Biarritz

We couldn't start this newsletter without talking about Biarritz. Because it is the city that has inspired our collections for more than 10 years already and because its inhabitants have their own way of celebrating each new year: they bathe in Atlantic waters. It is a friendly event organized by, among others, the Club des Ours Blancs, created in 1929, for whom the key word "swimming in all weathers" takes on its full meaning !

It is a tradition honored in France or the United States but this phenomenon is of Scandinavian origin. It was the world of sport that imagined it, highlighting its health benefits.

Some say that this cool swim would make the difficult aftermath of New Year's Eve disappear. So for the thirstiest of December 31st, will you be tempted by a swim in the ocean?

Conviviality and Humor above all !

In New Zealand, we like to be heard ! Tradition invites residents to go out into the streets with their loudest pots and pans to drum on them and create a symphony that is almost deafening but always joyful and warm.

Another continent and a very different tradition: in Quebec, the custom is for men to dress as women and women as men. Ladies, why not borrow the most beautiful cardigan from your husband, your father or a friend for an original and elegant look !

Whatever your tradition, we wish you a happy New Year !
