The History of the Ticking Stripe

- Categories : All

A bit of culture around the indigo stripe...

In the past, mattresses were filled with wool, the fabric that encased them; the fabric had to be solid to resist friction and movement.

This canvas, dense and firm, was handcrafted, and on it were woven particular stripes as you can see below. It is a pattern that is called "ticking" or "French stripes".

The quality and robustness of this fabric have made it a success since it will also be used in furnishings, upholstery or in the manufacture of ready-to-wear work wear. This is how we decided to link the ticking stripe of this historically strong fabric to the indigo color of workwear.

We were inspired by this pattern to make different models of cardigans, with a stripe in indigo tones.

Both historic and timeless, the regularity, color and originality of its lines give it an elegant and timeless style.

The latest cardigan in our collection is totally inspired by this pattern, but this time it's in linen. It has just been made in our workshop.

Light and comfortable to wear, it's our interpretation of the ticking stripe, summer version !

Being inspired by history is a way of telling it...
