The original Selvedge, Secret of Authentic Jeans

- Categories : All

What makes it such a special fabric ?

The denim was created in France, in Nîmes, in 1800 (hence its name "denim"). Selvedge, which is also an indigo blue cotton denim fabric, is obtained using a traditional manufacturing technique which gives it solidity and resistance. The end of its canvas is reinforced along the lengths with an identifiable white and red border.

Today, jeans made from this real fabric are rare. Faced with the strong demand that the textile industry had to face after 1945, traditional weaving looms were replaced by automated and faster machines, to the detriment of the quality and aesthetics of the fabric...

Yet this fabric is unique, it lives and shapes itself according to you. Denim adapts to your own body shape to become like a second skin because it molds itself perfectly to your body over time. Also, its indigo color experiences different shades over the years. It fades as it is worn and washed.

Besides, did you know that deliberately faded jeans have only been on the market for around twenty years? Previously, we only achieved this natural wash by wearing and washing the garment. So initially all the denim fabrics were raw.

Our Raw Icon Jean

These raw denim jeans have a thickness of 14oZ. It has 5 pockets and is one of our iconic ones. Its straight cut is timeless and gives it real comfort. We have added details specific to our house which you can discover in the photos below...

To preserve this precious raw and authentic indigo blue, we recommend wearing it for as long as possible before washing it. During the first wash, take it to the dry cleaners to fix its color. Then, wash inside out and cold (using Castile soap) and without spinning.

An urban legend says that purists would never wash their raw selvedge jeans in order to maintain its authenticity.

It is a garment that lasts a lifetime and is enhanced by time.

It will age with you and thus reveal its infinite shades of indigo blue.

This authenticity that dresses you, inhabits you.
