The Pocket Square

- Categories : All

The pocket square dates back to antiquity and the Middle Ages, it was at the time, a piece of "raw" fabric. It was used in particular by the noble classes who put perfume on it to avoid smelling the nauseous urban odors. In the 19th century, it will be placed in the trouser pocket, and will serve as a handkerchief. Thus, its function was not decorative, but practical.

It was at the end of the 19th century, when two-piece suits became popular, that the pocket square really became a trendy item. It will then be positioned in the pocket of the jacket or vest and will become a fashion accessory in its own right.
