The Culture of the Thrift Store

At the time of the trend for vintage clothing, let's take a look at these shops that are dedicated to them.

These are shops where clothes are collected that have already been worn, in more or less used states, but always reusable, to be dressed as they are, to be mended or transformed.

They have existed since the Middle Ages. At that time, only the wealthiest part of the population could afford new clothes. The others therefore went to thrift stores.

In 1800, one of the largest and most popular spaces dedicated to thrift shops was in Paris, at the Carreau du Temple. Everything was organized according to the types of clothes and their states. And its success also extends to the more affluent classes.

Finally, it is a space where all social classes will meet.

Today, these vintage shops are everywhere. They have become truly trendy, inside they meet true lovers of clothing. It's a place where everything is unique, and it's a good way to differentiate yourself from the mass style.

They are appreciated for the wonders that can be found there. Each piece is authentic and carries a real story. Buying second-hand clothing means giving it a second life. And in addition, it is a mode of consumption that is more respectful of the environment.

As you may know, thrift stores are for us an evocative place in which we also find our inspiration.

Some of our pieces are also made using iconic vintage clothing, such as our unique One to One waitcoats.
